French Sports retailer giant Decathlon Sports India, will open India's largest Sports Retail Store in Kalamassery by December 2013. Decathlon Kochi, will be a mega facility with 32,500 Sqft complex along with a Football ground and parking facility. The company will also open a second store at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium- Kadavanthara above the new Swimming pool complex. by mid of 2014.

The Decathlon Kochi Games 2013 has started at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium-Kadavanthara. The games will start from September 22nd 2013 (today) until December 21th 2013.

Regional Sports Centre Cochin with the support of Decathlon Sports India (a French multinational sports Retailer Company) and National Games Secretariat will be jointly organizing a mega sporting events in Cochin called the Kochi Games as a prelude to the National Games.

On September 22, the first edition of the Kochi Games will be inaugurated at Regional Sports Centre Cochin. This will be yearly sporting event that aims at promoting the benefits of sports and increasing sports awareness among the people, thereby creating healthy citizens....

National Disaster Management Authority has made a company unit of National Disaster Response Force available at Aluva. The unit arrived at Aluva along with disaster rescue equipments like float boats, pumping equipments, cutting equipments etc.

The team is making a survey at Thottakkattukara, Chembakassery of Aluva, Kalady, Perumbavoor as well as Cheruthonni etc along with mock drills and rescue blueprint.

The positive news is that with rains ceasing at Idukki area since yesterday evening, KSEB is confident that situation is under control. If no major rains happen as well as along with limited inflow of water, Idukki Dam doesn't require to open the dam for next 2 days, as per Dam Safety Engineer- Karuppankutty. The Chief Safety Engineer is in opinion, that the situation is under control and no need of releasing excess water in present circumstances.

However 4 govt schools in Aluva-Chowara areas as well as few Churches near Angamaly side has been kept ready in any unlikely event of evacuation.
