My hopes from Arvind Kejriwal are over, says disappointed Anna Hazare
Expressing grief over the functioning of Kejriwal’s cabinet colleagues, Hazare said, “I am very hurt...When he (Kejriwal) was with me, he wrote a book on gram swaraj...Will we call this gram swaraj? That's why I am very sad. The hope with which I was looking at him (Kejriwal) is over.”
His remarks come against the backdrop of the arrest of AAP MLA Sandeep Kumar who has been accused by a woman of having raped her.
36-year-old Kumar, who was sacked as a minister by the Delhi government in the wake of the accusation, was today remanded in three-day police custody by a court.
Hazare said he had earlier told Kejriwal, "You are going to roam the world after launching your party. You will hold rallies in the country for the same, but how will you find out that the people who join your party have a good character or not?”
"He (Kejriwal) did not have an answer for that. I can experience it today. I had said this earlier also, be it any party or leader, it is necessary to check if the people who join a party have a clean character or not," Hazare said.
"Arvind has been with me for many years. I was very hopeful for Arvind. I was hoping that he will set a different example for politics in India and also that he will give a different direction to the nation," the social activist said.
"I felt that way, but I am very saddened to see what his colleagues are doing. Some are going to jail, some are indulging in fraud," he further said.

Who could have imagined that social crusader Anna Hazare, who spearheaded a mass movement against the then UPA regime with Arvind Kejriwal by his side, would one day consider an agitation against his most trusted lieutenant?

Big setback to AAP, Delhi HC quashes Kejriwal govt's appointment of 21 Parliamentary Secretaries
In a major setback to the Arvind Kejriwal government, the Delhi High Court today quashed the government's order on the appointment of 21 AAP legislators as Parliamentary Secretaries.
In June, President Pranab Mukherjee had refused to sign the Delhi government's bill that allowed the 21 AAP MLAs to hold a second paying position as a Parliamentary Secretary, leaving their fate uncertain.
AAP had appointed 21 Parliamentary Secretaries to assist the Delhi government ministers on March 13, 2015. Thereafter, the government sought an amendment to the Delhi Members of Legislative Assembly (Removal of Disqualification) Act, 1997.
This decision had caused considerable controversy as the opposition criticised the move with both the BJP and the Congress had terming them appointments as grossly illegal.
The BJP-led central government had stipulated these posts as “office of profit” thereby paving the way for their disqualification.
A Delhi lawyer had sent a petition to the President’s office, after the state cabinet cleared the proposal keeping parliamentary secretaries out of the office-of-profit purview on June 19.
Prashant Patel, based at Karkardooma Court, filed the plea asking the President to take action against the creation of 21 “unconstitutional” posts by the Delhi government.
Another scandal hits AAP: Amanatullah Khan's sister-in-law files sexual harassment case against him Another sleaze scandal has rocked Delhi's ruling AAP, with a case of sexual harassment registered against its MLA Amanatullah Khan on a complaint by his sister-in-law, forcing him to quit as city's Waqf Board Chairman.
The complainant approached Jamia Nagar police station alleging that Khan had put pressure on her to get into a physical relationship with him, a senior police officer said. She also accused her husband of demanding dowry and putting pressure on her to get "physically intimate" with Khan, he added. A case under IPC sections 354A (sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) was registered against Khan and the woman's husband, said the officer.
The AAP had recently expelled former Delhi minister Sandeep Kumar from the party after a CD purportedly showing him in a "compromising" position with a woman went viral. The woman has accused Kumar, who is currently in prison, of rape.

AAP MLA Ved Prakash joins BJP, says Yogi Adityanath’s elevation in UP inspired him to switch
In a setback to the AAP ahead of the crucial MCD polls, its MLA Ved Parkash Monday resigned from the party and the Delhi assembly to join the BJP, alleging the Arvind Kejriwal government has “failed” to deliver on poll promises. The move is seen as a shot in the arm for the BJP as elections to the three municipal corporations of Delhi (MCDs) are scheduled to be held on April 23. Ved Parkash, who represented Bawana in the assembly, alleged that the MLAs who talk of development are “suppressed” by the party’s top leadership. He joined the BJP at its Delhi unit office in the presence of Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari and state party incharge Shyam Jaju. Later, accompanied by Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, he submitted his resignation at the Assembly Speaker’s office. Ved Parkash claimed there are 30-35 AAP MLAs who are not happy with the party’s leadership, indicating that an unrest has been brewing within the Aam Aadmi Party.
He said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is not “concerned” about what is happening at ground level and instead, he only focuses on how to “defame” Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government. He said that the AAP government is “being run through laptop” and that there is no connect with the ground reality. “I had joined the AAP with a hope that there will be some change, but I am disillusioned…I have neither quit under duress nor will I take any post in the BJP and will abide by the decisions taken by the party leadership.
“I have been influenced by the BJP’s recent decision to make a priest (Adityanath Yogi) the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Modiji is a saint and with this hope I have joined the BJP,” he told a press conference at the Delhi BJP office. Delhi BJP chief Tiwari said that the people of Delhi have now understood how they were “cheated” by the Aam Aadmi Party.
“Corruption has not been brought down in Delhi. There is corruption in every department in government. People are unhappy with the government’s performance. Every person is feeling cheated. “They (AAP) have failed to deliver on promises made in the run-up to assembly elections. What is about promises like Wi-Fi, CCTVs and women safety,” he said. Ved Parkash resignation has brought down the AAP’s tally to 65 in the 70-member Delhi Legislative Assembly. There are also four rebel MLAs — Devinder Sehrawat, Pankaj Pushkar and former ministers Sandeep Kumar and Asim Ahmed Khan.
The political development comes days after BJP President Amit Shah gave a call to “uproot” the Aam Aadmi Party from Delhi at the party’s booth in-charge convention here. Reacting to the resignation, a senior AAP leader said, “The party ticket for the MCD polls were given after consulting Ved Parkash. There could be a disagreement over one seat, but we did not expect him to quit.”
Ved Parkash, who also resigned all government-run bodies, alleged that the issues of Dalit are being “ignored” by the AAP government. He alleged that AAP ministers do not pick up calls of legislators, adding that no work has been done by the government in his constituency. He also took a dig at Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s ambitious project to send the government’s principals abroad for training skills. “In my constituency, there is a shortage of 30 per cent of teachers in a government school and they (AAP) talk of sending teachers abroad. Also, SC/ST fund has been lying unspent,” he said.
“I am leaving the party with a heavy heart after I saw no hope in the AAP. I am quitting to protect my identity,” he added.
