| Cheteshwar Pujara, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane were included in the 30-man probables list for the 2011 World Cup, while there was no place for veteran Rahul Dravid.
Irfan Pathan too was not part of the list, but his brother Yusuf made it to the list of probables following his good performances against New Zealand in the recently concluded ODI series.
Also named in the squad was Parthiv Patel, who hit two half-centuries in the last two matches of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand.
Chairman of selectors Kris Srikkanth said whatever be the final combination, it would do well at the quadrennial mega-event starting February 19 and to be played in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
"As you know there are no big surprises. This is a probables team and everyone selects himself. There is one more month to go to select the final team and we will sit down and think calmly before finalising the team," Srikkanth told reporters after a meeting of the selection panel.
"I am confident that the team will do well in the World Cup. They have been doing well in one-day cricket. The World Cup is happening in the sub-continent and I am confident that the team will do well," he added.
The batting had the expected names of Tendulkar, Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina. The ones who are likely to be competing for a place in the final fifteen are Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahana, Saurabh Tiwary, Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara.
The pace department had the established seniors such as Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Sreesanth, Ishant Sharma, Munaf Patel and Praveen Kumar, while Vinay Kumar also found a spot. The spinners were led by Harbhajan Singh and included Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra and R Ashwin, while Yusuf Pathan and Ravindra Jadeja made it as the bits-and-pieces men.
The side had four wicket-keepers with Wridhiman Saha, Dinesh Karthik and Parthiv Patel joining skipper Dhoni.
The final team is to be declared a month before the commencement of the World Cup as per the rules of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and would be pruned to a squad of 15.
30-man list: MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Sreesanth, Munaf Patel, Ishant Sharma, Vinay Kumar, Murali Vijay, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane, Saurabh Tiwary, Yusuf Pathan, Parthiv Patel , R Ashwin, Wriddhiman Saha, Dinesh Karthik, Shikhar Dhawan, Amit Mishra, Piyush Chawla, Cheteshwar Pujara, Pragyan Ojha, Praveen Kumar. |

| Former Test fast bowler Brett Lee was included in Australia's initial 30-man squad for next year's World Cup, which was announced by Cricket Australia on Friday.
The 34-year-old, who retired from Test cricket at the start of this year in the hope of extending his career in shorter forms of the game, last played a one-day international in India in October last year.
The squad will be halved with the final list of 15 players being submitted to the International Cricket Council (ICC) before January 19.
"Australia is the reigning world champion and also holds the ICC Champions Trophy in the 50-over game," chief selector Andrew Hilditch said in a news release.
"We've selected an initial squad with conditions in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in mind and expect this group to be equal to the challenge ahead."
The 10th World Cup takes place from February 19 to April 2.
Squad: Ricky Ponting (captain), Michael Clarke, Doug Bollinger, Dan Christian, Xavier Doherty, Callum Ferguson, Brad Haddin, Ryan Harris, John Hastings, Nathan Hauritz, Brad Hodge, James Hopes, David Hussey, Mike Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, Andrew McDonald, Clint McKay, Stephen O'Keefe, Tim Paine, James Pattinson, Peter Siddle, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Shaun Tait, Adam Voges, David Warner, Shane Watson, Cameron White. |
