Woman tries to sneak out jailbird hubby in suitcase

Police say a woman was caught trying to sneak her husband out of a Mexican prison in a suitcase following a conjugal visit.

A police spokesman said that after visiting inmate Juan Ramirez Tijerina, 19-year-old Maria del Mar Arjona Rivero left the Chetumal Rehabilitation Center on the east coast of Yucatan Peninsula, rolling a large black wheeled suitcase she claimed contained his dirty clothing.

Staff at the prison grew suspicious as the woman appeared unusually nervous and the suitcase seemed rather heavy and bulky.

Spokesman Gerardo Campos said that prison guards then checked the bag and found inmate Tijerina curled up
inside in the fetal position.

Arjona has been arrested and charges are pending.
