THE stain of cricket match fixing has spread with six umpires allegedly caught agreeing to spot fix games.

The allegations involve an official who presided over Australia's World Twenty20 warm-up match with Sri Lanka on September 17.

The officials were captured by an Indian television station which named Pakistan's Nadeem Ghauri and Anees Siddiqui, Bangladesh's Nadir Shah and Sri Lanka's Gamini Dissanayake, Sagara Gallage and Maurice Winston as willing to accept money to fix or provide information from matches.

Out of these, Ghauri, a former Pakistan left-arm spinner, is the most prominent of all, having officiated in five Tests, 43 ODIs and four T20 Internationals.

Shah has stood in 40 ODIs and three T20s and is on the ICC International Panel of Umpires.

Gallage was the emergency umpire for the India-Pakistan warm-up game ahead of the World Twenty20 began last month.

None of the umpires were involved in the recently completed tournament, however reports of the program _ which was in Hindi _ claim Gallage recommended Maurice Winston's name to reporters and he, in turn, shared information about the pitch, toss and playing XIs of Australia and England in a warm-up game, on September 17.

The ICC has launched a probe into the allegations and asked to view the footage.

ICC official, Shah, allegedly said he was ready to fix any match, offering to change decisions from out to not out and the reverse.

He also claimed that Pakistan batsman Nasir Jamshed 'fixed' matches during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) this year.

Jamshed was interviewed during that tournament after his bank account details were found in the possession of a black market bookmaker arrested for match fixing.

Gallage agreed to share information about the pitch, weather, toss, and playing XIs.

The ICC has identified the booming domestic T20 market as ripe for corruption _ especially where matches are televised in India.

In the TV sting Gallage apparently promises to give Pakistan’s Imran Nazir out during the Sri Lankan Premier League tournament which was held before the World T20.

A seventh umpire, Bangladesh’s Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat _ who is also on the ICC panel turned down offers of money to provide matches or fix them.
