Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent his good wishes to every member of Team India through his Twitter account.

The Indian team is already in Australia, most of them having been there since the Test series, which started in December last year. The defending champions start their campaign on 15 February against Pakistan before taking on South Africa in their second group match on 22 February.

India will play six games in the group stage, with the top four teams in each group going through to the quarter-finals.




India has struggled while in Australia, losing two of the four Tests while winning none. They also lost all three of their one-dayers in the tri-series tournament that followed - once to Australia and twice to England. India then lost their first warm-up game to Australia before trouncing Afghanistan for their win Down Under (neither game was a recognised international).

Modi made sure to mention each player in separate tweets and played along with the cliches associated with them. Ravindra Jadeja was 'Sir Jadeja', MS Dhoni was 'Captain Cool'. Modi also cheekily asked Suresh Raina to hit bouncers.
