സഹാറന്‍പൂര്‍ വര്‍ഗീയ കലാപത്തില്‍ ബി.ജെ.പി എം.പിക്ക് പങ്കുണ്ടെന്ന് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്   

ലഖ്നോ: സഹാറന്‍പൂര്‍ വര്‍ഗീയ കലാപത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അന്വേഷിച്ച അഞ്ചംഗ കമ്മീഷന്‍ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ഉത്തര്‍പ്രദേശ് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി അഖിലേഷ് യാദവിന് സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചു. കലാപത്തില്‍ ബി.ജെ.പിക്ക് പങ്കുള്ളതായും കലാപം നേരിടുന്നതില്‍ ഭരണകൂടത്തിന് വീഴ്ചയുണ്ടായതായും റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു. ഉത്തര്‍പ്രദേശ് മന്ത്രിസഭാംഗം ശിവ് പാല്‍ യാദവിന്‍െറ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള കമ്മിറ്റിയുടേതാണ് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്. കലാപം നേരിടുന്നതില്‍ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ അശ്രദ്ധ പാലിച്ചതായും ഇവര്‍ക്കെതിരെ മാതൃകാപരമായ നടപടികള്‍ സ്വീകരിക്കണമെന്നും റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്.
ഒരു ബി.ജെ.പി എംപിക്ക് കലാപത്തില്‍ പങ്കുള്ളതായി സമാജ് വാദി പാര്‍ട്ടി ദേശീയ സെക്രട്ടറി നരേഷ് അഗര്‍വാള്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി. ബി.ജെ.പി എം.പിയുടെ കലാപത്തിലെ പങ്ക് വ്യക്തമായ സ്ഥിതിക്ക് പാര്‍ട്ടിക്കും കലാപത്തില്‍ പങ്കുണ്ട്. കലാപകാരികള്‍ക്ക് അക്രമം അഴിച്ചു വിടാന്‍ ബി.ജെ.പി എം.പി പ്രേരണ നല്‍കുകയും തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഇത് കലാപത്തിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുകയുമായിരുന്നെന്നാണ് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടില്‍ പറയുന്നത്.

സഹാറന്‍പൂര്‍ റെയില്‍വേ സ്റ്റേഷനടുത്ത് മസ്ജിദിനും ഗുരുദ്വാരക്കുമിടയിലുള്ള ഭൂമിയെച്ചൊല്ലിയുണ്ടായ അവകാശത്തര്‍ക്കമാണ് കലാപത്തിന് കാരണമായത്. കലാപത്തില്‍ മൂന്നു പേര്‍ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.
സഹാറന്‍പൂരിലെ കുതുബ്ഷേര്‍ പ്രദേശത്തെ തര്‍ക്കസ്ഥലത്ത് സിഖുകാര്‍ നിര്‍മാണപ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തിന് തുടക്കമിട്ടത് മുസ്ലിം സമുദായം ചോദ്യം ചെയ്തതോടെയാണ് സംഘര്‍ഷം തുടങ്ങിയത്. ഇരുവിഭാഗവും കല്ളേറും അക്രമവും തുടങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു. നാലുവര്‍ഷം മുമ്പ് തങ്ങളുടെ ഗുരുദ്വാര വലുതാക്കാന്‍ സിഖ് സമുദായം തീരുമാനിച്ചതു മുതല്‍ പ്രശ്നം നിലനില്‍ക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
ഗുരുദ്വാരയുടെ പുനര്‍നിര്‍മാണ പ്രവൃത്തി നടത്താനുദ്ദശേിച്ച സ്ഥലം പള്ളിയുടേതാണെന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് മുസ്ലിംകള്‍ ഈ നീക്കത്തെ എതിര്‍ത്തു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഈ വിഷയമാണ് കലാപത്തിലേക്ക് നയിച്ചത്

Quintessentially Modi, said Bharatiya Janata Party’s spokesperson and writer M J Akbar after Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort on India’s 68 Independence Day.

Prime Minister Modi wore the hat of a social reformer on Friday.

His speech had the soul of a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak. For them, the power of New Delhi is all about shaping Indian families and building national character.

Sporting a bright red bandhni-designed safa along with simple kurta-chudidar helped him play out his "Hindu-nationalist" identity. His social ideas too had a thread of "cultural nationalism" of the RSS style running through it.

Standing firm on the dais without a bullet-proof glass barrier, alongside the national flag, Modi displayed with full vigour his typical macho body language, his government’s priorities in the social sector and his own resolve to govern the country.

He talked less about politics and more about basics.

His language was assertive but not aggressive.

Even if it was a bit ceremonial, he graciously acknowledged his predecessors.

The prime minister reminded people that he is an outsider. And, true to his outsider spirit, he talked about toilets.

Modi’s speech has to be applauded for bringing toilets, gender imbalance and cleanliness into the national discourse.

He gave himself a things-to-do deadline for building toilets in all schools across India within a year.

One wished he added the adjective, 'functioning' before toilets. Thousands of schools in India does have toilets but they either do not have running water or are not being maintained.

This is almost an impossible task. So let us see with immense interest how Modi follows his promised dream.

Also, his announcement of creating bank accounts for the poor and giving them Rs 1 lakh insurance is loaded with many possibilities and impossibilities.

From a sheer business point of view, Modi is talking about some potential insurance business of Rs 23,000 crore!

Officially, there are around 23 crore poor in India. Minimum, one would say.

Giving each of them Rs 1 lakh worth insurance, along with opening their bank accounts, is awesome but seemingly impossible idea to fulfil within the time limit Modi has set.

Precisely for that reason, Modi has created a flutter.

Let the administrative details of his Independence Day ideas come out. Will he give business to the private insurance companies or the government-controlled Life Insurance Corporation?

Knowing fully well that he was not playing elite, restricted and fitting-to-the-solemn-occasion speech, Modi said he does not know whether people will appreciate him talking about dirt and toilets from the ramparts of the Red Fort. But since he came from a poor family, he expressed his concerns for such issues.

The most redeeming feature of his speech was his penchant for cleanliness.

He said that by 2019, ensuring cleanliness will be the most fitting tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary.

The prime minister’s speech constantly gave the feel that change is in air.

It was high time an Indian Prime Minister went back to basics and talked about how shameful it is that the country’s womenfolk have to wait for darkness to go out in the open to defecate.

Modi asked, “Can't we build toilets for the security of our women?”

While touching the issue of rape-related crimes, Modi said: “I want to ask parents, when daughters turn 11 or 14, they keep a tab on their movements. Have these parents ever asked their sons where they have been going, who they have been meeting? Rapists are somebody's sons as well! Parents must take the responsibility to ensure that their sons don't go the wrong direction."

His idea of announcing a scheme named after Parliament called Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana is a challenging one too.

Modi said that by 2016, MPs should have at least turned one village into a model village. By the end of five years, Modi wants each MP should have converted at least five villages into model villages.

Through the scheme, which will be kicked off from October 11 -- the auspicious day of Karva Chauth, Modi is talking about creating some 3500-plus ideal villages by 2019.

During the course of his speech, Modi, in a cold-blooded manner, dismantled the Planning Commission, ending the Nehruvian style instrument of national deliberations on planned growth.

Asserting that the country has changed, the prime minister said that since the needs had changed, it was time to build a new institution instead of renovating the old relic.

Modi also talked about skill development and tried to inspire a "Make in India" mission.

He, however, smartly avoided political traps.

His government was elected by people who were angry on issue of corruption, price rise and insecurity due to internal and external vulnerabilities.

Modi didn’t touch issue of corruption, high cost of living and Pakistan-backed terrorism or even the issue of black money stashed abroad.

He diverted the national attention to social issues rather than hardcore economic or security-related issues.

Modi’s speech, as expected, was perfectly-delivered. But it was short of hard issues that could give the nation new direction or clear hint of fundamental changes that are likely to come though governance particularly.

Modi, though, has time on his side.

If his government machinery starts building toilets on a war-footing and if some 780-plus MPs start building the ideal model villages in nooks and corners of India, Modi will deserve applause on August 15, 2015.

ഇന്ത്യ പാക് ബന്ധം ഉലയുന്നു

ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി : ഇന്ത്യ-പാക് വിദേശകാര്യ സെക്രട്ടറിതല ചര്‍ച്ച റദ്ദാക്കി. ഇന്ത്യക്ക് ചര്‍ച്ചയില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കാന്‍ താത്പര്യമില്ലെന്ന് ഇന്ത്യൻ വിദേശകാര്യ സെക്രട്ടറി സുജാതാ സിംഗ് അറിയിച്ചു. കാശ്മീര്‍ വിഘടനവാദികളെ പാക് ഹൈക്കമ്മീഷണര്‍ ചർച്ചയ്ക്ക് ക്ഷണിച്ചതിൽ പ്രതിഷേധിച്ചാണ് ഇന്ത്യ ഉഭയകക്ഷിചർച്ച ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചത്. ഈ മാസം 25നാണ് ഇരു രാജ്യങ്ങളും തമ്മിൽ വിദേശ്യകാര്യ സെക്രട്ടറിതല ചർച്ച നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരുന്നത്.

ഹുറിയത് നേതാക്കളെ പാക് ഹൈക്കമീഷണർ അബ്ദുൾ ബാസിദ് നാളെയാണ് ചർച്ചയ്ക്ക് ഡൽഹിയിലേക്ക് ക്ഷണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.

അതിര്‍ത്തിയില്‍ വെടിനിര്‍ത്തല്‍ കരാര്‍ ലംഘിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് പാക് സൈന്യം തിങ്കളാഴ്ച മൂന്ന് തവണ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ പോസ്റ്റിനുനേരെ വെടിവയ്പ് നടത്തി. അതിര്‍ത്തിയിലെ സംഘര്‍വും, ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹിയിലെ പുതിയ സംഭവങ്ങളും ചേര്‍ത്ത് ഇന്ത്യ പാക് ബന്ധം ഒരിടവേളയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം വീണ്ടും ഉലയുകയാണ്.

ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: അധികാരത്തിലേറിയതിന്‌ പിന്നാലെ യുപിഎ നിയോഗിച്ച ഗവര്‍ണര്‍മാരെ തിരിച്ചയയ്‌ക്കാനുള്ള ബിജെപി സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ നീക്കങ്ങള്‍ ഉത്തരാഖണ്ഡ്‌ ഗവര്‍ണര്‍ അസീസ്‌ ഖുറേഷിക്ക്‌ മുന്നില്‍ പാളി. തന്നെ മാറ്റാനുള്ള ​കേന്ദ്ര സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ നീക്കം ചോദ്യംചെയ്‌തു കൊണ്ട്‌ ഖുറേഷി സുപ്രീംകോടതിയെ സമീപിച്ചു.

ഗവര്‍ണര്‍ കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ ജോലിക്കാരനല്ലെന്ന്‌ സുപ്രീംകോടതി നിരീക്ഷണം മുന്‍ നിര്‍ത്തിയാണ് ഹര്‍ജി. ഗവര്‍ണര്‍ക്ക്‌ രാഷ്‌ട്രപതിയെ തൃപ്‌തിപ്പെടുത്തേണ്ട കാര്യമേയുള്ളൂ എന്നും ഭരണഘടനാ പദവിയെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യാന്‍ സര്‍ക്കാരിന്‌ അധികാരമില്ലെന്നും ചൂണ്ടിക്കാണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. ചീഫ്‌ ജസ്‌റ്റീസ്‌ ആര്‍ എം ലോധ തലവനായുള്ള ബഞ്ച് ഹര്‍ജി വ്യാഴാഴ്‌ച പരിഗണിക്കും.

അധികാരത്തിലേറിയതിന്‌ പിന്നാലെ ബിജെപി യുപിഎ കാലത്ത്‌ നിയോഗിക്കപ്പെട്ട പല ഗവര്‍ണര്‍മാരോടും രാജി വെയ്‌ക്കാന്‍ ആഭ്യന്തര സെക്രട്ടറിമാര്‍ വഴി ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ആഭ്യന്തര സെക്രട്ടറിയുടെ നടപടിയെ ധിക്കാരമെന്നാണ്‌ ഖുറേഷി വിശേഷിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്‌. ഉത്തരാഖണ്ഡ്‌ ആഭ്യന്തര സെക്രട്ടറിയുടെ ഇക്കാര്യത്തിലുള്ള ഫോണ്‍കോള്‍ അച്ചടക്കരാഹിത്യമാണെന്ന്‌ പരാതിയില്‍ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. തന്നോട്‌ പുറത്ത്‌പോകാന്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെടാന്‍ ഏക അധികാരം പ്രസിഡന്റിന്‌ മാത്രമാണ്‌. പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌ ഓഫീസിനെ മാത്രം ഗവര്‍ണര്‍മാര്‍ തൃപ്‌തിപ്പെടുത്തിയാല്‍ മതിയെന്നും പ്രസിഡന്റിന്‌ താല്‍പ്പര്യമുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ അഞ്ചു വര്‍ഷവും മുന്നോട്ട്‌ പോകാമെന്നും ഹര്‍ജിയില്‍ പറയുന്നു.

യുപിഎ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ 2004 ല്‍ ഗവര്‍ണര്‍ സ്‌ഥാനത്തു നിന്നും മാറ്റിയ വിഷ്‌ണുകാന്ത്‌ ശാസ്‌ത്രി, ബാബു പരമാനന്ദ്‌, കൈലാഷ്‌പതി മിശ്ര, കിദര്‍നദാഥ്‌ സാഹ്നി എന്നിവര്‍ നടപടിക്കെതിരേ 2010 ല്‍ സുപ്രീംകോടതിയെ സമീപിച്ച കാര്യവും ചൂണ്ടിക്കാണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. ഗവര്‍ണര്‍മാര്‍ സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ ജോലിക്കാരല്ലെന്നും വിശ്വാസം നഷ്‌ടപ്പെടുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ മാത്രമേ അവരെ മാറ്റാനാകുള്ളൂ എന്നും സുപ്രീംകോടതി നിരീക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇക്കാര്യത്തിന്‌ പ്രസിഡന്റിന്റെ നിര്‍ദേശം വേണമെന്നും കോടതി പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്ര മോദിയുമായി വേദി പങ്കിടരുതെന്ന് കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് അവരുടെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിമാരോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടതായി ബിജെപി. മഹാരാഷ്ട്രാ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പൃഥ്വിരാജ് ചവാന്‍ മോദിയുമൊന്നിച്ചുള്ള പരിപാടി ബഹിഷ്ക്കരിച്ചതോടെയാണ് ആരോപണവുമായി ബിജെപി രംഗത്ത് വന്നത്. ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച നരേന്ദ്ര മോദിയുമായി വേദിപങ്കിട്ട ഹരിയാനാ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഭുപീന്ദര്‍ സിംഗ് ഹുഡയെ ആളുകള്‍ കൂക്കിവിളിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇതില്‍ പ്രതിഷേധിച്ചാണ് അദ്ദേഹം മോദിക്കൊപ്പം വേദി പങ്കിടില്ലെന്ന് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്. നാഗ്പൂര്‍ മെട്രോയുടെ നിര്‍മ്മാണ ഉദ്ഘാടനത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കില്ലെന്നാണ് ചവാന്‍ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്. തിരക്കിട്ട നീക്കത്തിലൂടെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേട്ടത്തിനാണ് മോദി സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ ശ്രമമെന്നും മെട്രോയ്ക്ക് അനുമതി ലഭിച്ചകാര്യം കേന്ദ്ര സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ മഹാരാഷ്ട്ര സര്‍ക്കാരിനെ അറിയിച്ചില്ലെന്നും ചവാന്‍ ആരോപിക്കുന്നു. കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി പദത്തെ അപമാനിച്ചതായി ബിജെപി ആരോപിച്ചു. ഭരണഘടനയോട് ബഹുമാനമുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് ഇത്തരത്തില്‍ പെരുമാറില്ലെന്നും ബിജെപി ആരോപിച്ചു.

The Supreme Court today told the government that it is concerned about the post of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha remaining vacant. Judges said the position "conveys a voice different from the government's" and is therefore crucial. The Centre has been given four weeks to furnish its response.

The SC has agreed to interpret the Leader of Opposition provision for
purpose of appointment of Lokpal in which LoP is a selection
committee member.

The SC said that the LoP conveys the voice different from the government in the House. The SC says the issue cannot be prolonged and the act cannot be put in cold storage, posts the case for final disposal for

ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: ബി.ജെ.പിയില്‍ നരേന്ദ്ര മോഡി യുഗം ആരംഭിച്ചതോടെ കഷ്‌ടകാലം തുടങ്ങിയ മുതിര്‍ന്ന നേതാവ്‌ എല്‍.കെ അദ്വാനിയെ പാര്‍ട്ടി വീണ്ടും മൂലയ്‌ക്കിരുത്തി. പാര്‍ട്ടി സ്‌ഥാപകന്‍ കൂടിയായ അദ്വാനിയെ ബി.ജെ.പിയുടെ പുതിയ അധ്യക്ഷന്‍ അമിത്‌ ഷാ ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയ ചെലവു ചുരുക്കലിന്റെ പേരില്‍ ചാര്‍ട്ടേഡ്‌ വിമാനം നിഷേധിച്ചതാണ്‌ പുതിയ സംഭവം. സാധാരണ വിമാനത്തില്‍ വേണമെങ്കില്‍ ടിക്കറ്റ്‌ എടുത്ത നല്‍കാമെന്ന പാര്‍ട്ടിയുടെ വാഗ്‌ദാനം അദ്വാനി അപ്പോള്‍ തന്നെ നിരാകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. പുതിയ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ അധികാരമേറ്റപ്പോള്‍ മുതല്‍ അദ്വാനിയെ പാര്‍ട്ടിയുടെ മുഖ്യധാരയില്‍ നിന്നു പിന്തള്ളാനുള്ള ശ്രമങ്ങളുടെ അവസാന പരിപാടിയായിരുന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം നടന്നത്‌. അമിത്‌ ഷാ പാര്‍ട്ടി അധ്യക്ഷനായി ചുമതലയേറ്റതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന്‌ പാര്‍ട്ടി നേതാക്കളുടെ വിമാന യാത്രയ്‌ക്കും പഞ്ചനക്ഷത്ര ഹോട്ടലുകളില്‍ താമസിക്കുന്നതിനും നിയന്ത്രണം ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു. അത്യാവശ്യം ഘട്ടങ്ങളിലല്ലാതെ ചാര്‍ട്ടര്‍ ചെയ്‌ത്‌ വിമാനം ഉപയോഗിക്കരുതെന്നാണ്‌ പുതിയ നിര്‍ദേശം. സാധാരണ വിമാനങ്ങളില്‍ എക്‌സിക്യൂട്ടീവ്‌ ക്ലാസിലോ ബിസിനസ്‌ ക്ലാസിലോ യാത്ര ചെയ്‌താല്‍ മതിയെന്നും പഞ്ചനക്ഷത്ര ഹോട്ടലുകള്‍ക്ക്‌ പകരം സംസ്‌ഥാന ഗസ്‌റ്റ്‌ ഹൗസുകള്‍ ഉപയോഗിക്കണമെന്നും നിര്‍ദേശമുണ്ട്‌. താന്‍ അത്യാവശ്യ ഘട്ടങ്ങളിലല്ലാതെ ചാര്‍ട്ടര്‍ ചെയ്‌ത വിമാനം ഉപയോഗിക്കാറില്ലെന്നും അമിത്‌ ഷാ നേതാക്കളോട്‌ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. ചെലവു ചുരുക്കലിനൊപ്പം, സാധാരണക്കാര്‍ക്ക്‌ നേതാക്കള്‍ പ്രാപ്യമാക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണിതെന്നും പാര്‍ട്ടി വൃത്തങ്ങള്‍ സൂചിപ്പിച്ചു. കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസമാണ്‌ അദ്വാനിയുടെ ഓഫീസ്‌ പാര്‍ട്ടി കേന്ദ്ര ആസ്‌ഥാനത്തേക്ക്‌ വിളിച്ച്‌ അദ്വാനിക്ക്‌ ചാര്‍ട്ടര്‍ ചെയ്‌ത വിമാനം ആവശ്യമാണെന്ന്‌ അറിയിച്ചത്‌. വര്‍ഷങ്ങളായി തുടരുന്ന പതിവാണിത്‌. എന്നാല്‍ വിമാനം നല്‍കാനുള്ള ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട്‌ ഓഫീസില്‍ നിന്നറിയിച്ചതോടെ അദ്വാനി ധനമന്ത്രി അരുണ്‍ ജയ്‌റ്റ്‌ലിയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടു എന്നാണ്‌ വിവരം. മോഡിയുമായും അമിത്‌ ഷായുമായും അടുത്ത ബന്ധമുള്ള ജയ്‌റ്റ്‌ലി സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടും ഇരുവരും അയഞ്ഞില്ല. തുടര്‍ന്ന്‌ പാര്‍ട്ടി സാധാരണ യാത്രാ വിമാനത്തില്‍ ടിക്കറ്റ്‌ എടുത്തു നല്‍കാമെന്ന്‌ അറിയിച്ചെങ്കിലും അദ്വാനി ഇത്‌ നിരസിക്കുകയായിരുന്നുവെന്ന്‌ പാര്‍ട്ടി വൃത്തങ്ങള്‍ വ്യക്‌തമാക്കി. മോഡി-ഷാ യുഗം തുടങ്ങിയതോടെ അദ്വാനി അപമാനിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്‌ ആദ്യമായല്ല. മോഡി പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയായി പാര്‍ലമെന്റിലെത്തിയ ദിവസം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഇരിപ്പിടം മോഡിക്ക്‌ തൊട്ടടുത്തായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ പിറ്റേന്ന്‌ അദ്വാനി സഭയില്‍ എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ മോഡിക്ക്‌ തൊട്ടടുത്തുള്ള സീറ്റില്‍ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ ഓഫീസില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ഫയലുകളും മറ്റും സ്‌ഥാനം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതാണ്‌ കണ്ടത്‌. കാര്യം മനസിലായതോടെ ബഞ്ചിന്റെ അങ്ങേ അറ്റത്ത്‌ മാറാതെ അദ്വാനിക്ക്‌ വഴിയില്ലായിരുന്നു. ഇതിനു പിന്നാലെ എന്‍.ഡി.എ വര്‍ക്കിംഗ്‌ ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ എന്ന നിലയില്‍ അദ്വാനിക്ക്‌ അനുവദിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന പാര്‍ലമെന്റിലെ മുറിയും മുന്നറിയിപ്പില്ലാതെ ഒഴിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഉച്ചയ്‌ക്ക്‌ സഭ പിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ തനിക്ക്‌ അനുവദിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന മുറിയിലെത്തിയപ്പോഴാണ്‌ അവിടെ നിന്ന്‌ ബോര്‍ഡ്‌ എടുത്തു മാറ്റിയ വിവരം അദ്വാനി അറിയുന്നത്‌. അപമാനിതനായ അദ്വാനി പിന്നീട്‌ പാര്‍ട്ടി പാര്‍ലമെന്ററി ഓഫീസിലാണ്‌ വിശ്രമിച്ചത്‌. ഏറെക്കാലമായി വഹിക്കുന്ന എന്‍.ഡി.എ വര്‍ക്കിംഗ്‌ ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ എന്ന പദവിയില്‍ അദ്വാനി ഇനി ഉണ്ടാകില്ലെന്നതിന്റെ സൂചന കൂടിയായിരുന്നു അത്‌. അദ്വാനിയുടെ കടുത്ത എതിര്‍പ്പിനെ അവഗണിച്ചായിരുന്നു രാജ്‌നാഥ്‌ സിംഗിനെ്‌റ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ മോഡിയെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി സ്‌ഥാനാര്‍ഥിയാക്കിയത്‌. പാര്‍ട്ടി പദവികള്‍ രാജിവച്ച്‌ വരെ അദ്വാനി പ്രതിഷേധിച്ചെങ്കിലും പാര്‍ട്ടിയിലെ പുതിയ സമവാക്യം തിരുത്താന്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‌ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. മോഡി സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ അധികാരമേറ്റപ്പോള്‍ അദ്വാനി, മുരളി മനോഹര്‍ ജോഷി തുടങ്ങിയവരെ എവിടെ ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളിക്കുമെന്ന്‌ ചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍ നടന്നെങ്കിലും ഇരുവരും ഇപ്പോഴും പദവിരഹിതരായി തുടരുകയാണ്‌. മോഡിയെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി സ്‌ഥാനത്തേക്ക്‌ കൈപിടിച്ചു കയറ്റിയവരില്‍ പ്രധാനിയായ രാജ്‌നാഥ്‌ സിംഗും ഇപ്പോള്‍ പൂര്‍ണമായി ഒതുക്കപ്പെട്ട അവസ്‌ഥയിലാണ്‌.

ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: ബി.ജെ.പിയില്‍ നരേന്ദ്ര മോഡി യുഗം ആരംഭിച്ചതോടെ കഷ്‌ടകാലം തുടങ്ങിയ മുതിര്‍ന്ന നേതാവ്‌ എല്‍.കെ അദ്വാനിയെ പാര്‍ട്ടി വീണ്ടും മൂലയ്‌ക്കിരുത്തി. പാര്‍ട്ടി സ്‌ഥാപകന്‍ കൂടിയായ അദ്വാനിയെ ബി.ജെ.പിയുടെ പുതിയ അധ്യക്ഷന്‍ അമിത്‌ ഷാ ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയ ചെലവു ചുരുക്കലിന്റെ പേരില്‍ ചാര്‍ട്ടേഡ്‌ വിമാനം നിഷേധിച്ചതാണ്‌ പുതിയ സംഭവം. സാധാരണ വിമാനത്തില്‍ വേണമെങ്കില്‍ ടിക്കറ്റ്‌ എടുത്ത നല്‍കാമെന്ന പാര്‍ട്ടിയുടെ വാഗ്‌ദാനം അദ്വാനി അപ്പോള്‍ തന്നെ നിരാകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. പുതിയ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ അധികാരമേറ്റപ്പോള്‍ മുതല്‍ അദ്വാനിയെ പാര്‍ട്ടിയുടെ മുഖ്യധാരയില്‍ നിന്നു പിന്തള്ളാനുള്ള ശ്രമങ്ങളുടെ അവസാന പരിപാടിയായിരുന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം നടന്നത്‌. അമിത്‌ ഷാ പാര്‍ട്ടി അധ്യക്ഷനായി ചുമതലയേറ്റതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന്‌ പാര്‍ട്ടി നേതാക്കളുടെ വിമാന യാത്രയ്‌ക്കും പഞ്ചനക്ഷത്ര ഹോട്ടലുകളില്‍ താമസിക്കുന്നതിനും നിയന്ത്രണം ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു. അത്യാവശ്യം ഘട്ടങ്ങളിലല്ലാതെ ചാര്‍ട്ടര്‍ ചെയ്‌ത്‌ വിമാനം ഉപയോഗിക്കരുതെന്നാണ്‌ പുതിയ നിര്‍ദേശം. സാധാരണ വിമാനങ്ങളില്‍ എക്‌സിക്യൂട്ടീവ്‌ ക്ലാസിലോ ബിസിനസ്‌ ക്ലാസിലോ യാത്ര ചെയ്‌താല്‍ മതിയെന്നും പഞ്ചനക്ഷത്ര ഹോട്ടലുകള്‍ക്ക്‌ പകരം സംസ്‌ഥാന ഗസ്‌റ്റ്‌ ഹൗസുകള്‍ ഉപയോഗിക്കണമെന്നും നിര്‍ദേശമുണ്ട്‌. താന്‍ അത്യാവശ്യ ഘട്ടങ്ങളിലല്ലാതെ ചാര്‍ട്ടര്‍ ചെയ്‌ത വിമാനം ഉപയോഗിക്കാറില്ലെന്നും അമിത്‌ ഷാ നേതാക്കളോട്‌ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. ചെലവു ചുരുക്കലിനൊപ്പം, സാധാരണക്കാര്‍ക്ക്‌ നേതാക്കള്‍ പ്രാപ്യമാക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണിതെന്നും പാര്‍ട്ടി വൃത്തങ്ങള്‍ സൂചിപ്പിച്ചു. കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസമാണ്‌ അദ്വാനിയുടെ ഓഫീസ്‌ പാര്‍ട്ടി കേന്ദ്ര ആസ്‌ഥാനത്തേക്ക്‌ വിളിച്ച്‌ അദ്വാനിക്ക്‌ ചാര്‍ട്ടര്‍ ചെയ്‌ത വിമാനം ആവശ്യമാണെന്ന്‌ അറിയിച്ചത്‌. വര്‍ഷങ്ങളായി തുടരുന്ന പതിവാണിത്‌. എന്നാല്‍ വിമാനം നല്‍കാനുള്ള ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട്‌ ഓഫീസില്‍ നിന്നറിയിച്ചതോടെ അദ്വാനി ധനമന്ത്രി അരുണ്‍ ജയ്‌റ്റ്‌ലിയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടു എന്നാണ്‌ വിവരം. മോഡിയുമായും അമിത്‌ ഷായുമായും അടുത്ത ബന്ധമുള്ള ജയ്‌റ്റ്‌ലി സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടും ഇരുവരും അയഞ്ഞില്ല. തുടര്‍ന്ന്‌ പാര്‍ട്ടി സാധാരണ യാത്രാ വിമാനത്തില്‍ ടിക്കറ്റ്‌ എടുത്തു നല്‍കാമെന്ന്‌ അറിയിച്ചെങ്കിലും അദ്വാനി ഇത്‌ നിരസിക്കുകയായിരുന്നുവെന്ന്‌ പാര്‍ട്ടി വൃത്തങ്ങള്‍ വ്യക്‌തമാക്കി. മോഡി-ഷാ യുഗം തുടങ്ങിയതോടെ അദ്വാനി അപമാനിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്‌ ആദ്യമായല്ല. മോഡി പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയായി പാര്‍ലമെന്റിലെത്തിയ ദിവസം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഇരിപ്പിടം മോഡിക്ക്‌ തൊട്ടടുത്തായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ പിറ്റേന്ന്‌ അദ്വാനി സഭയില്‍ എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ മോഡിക്ക്‌ തൊട്ടടുത്തുള്ള സീറ്റില്‍ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ ഓഫീസില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ഫയലുകളും മറ്റും സ്‌ഥാനം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതാണ്‌ കണ്ടത്‌. കാര്യം മനസിലായതോടെ ബഞ്ചിന്റെ അങ്ങേ അറ്റത്ത്‌ മാറാതെ അദ്വാനിക്ക്‌ വഴിയില്ലായിരുന്നു. ഇതിനു പിന്നാലെ എന്‍.ഡി.എ വര്‍ക്കിംഗ്‌ ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ എന്ന നിലയില്‍ അദ്വാനിക്ക്‌ അനുവദിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന പാര്‍ലമെന്റിലെ മുറിയും മുന്നറിയിപ്പില്ലാതെ ഒഴിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഉച്ചയ്‌ക്ക്‌ സഭ പിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ തനിക്ക്‌ അനുവദിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന മുറിയിലെത്തിയപ്പോഴാണ്‌ അവിടെ നിന്ന്‌ ബോര്‍ഡ്‌ എടുത്തു മാറ്റിയ വിവരം അദ്വാനി അറിയുന്നത്‌. അപമാനിതനായ അദ്വാനി പിന്നീട്‌ പാര്‍ട്ടി പാര്‍ലമെന്ററി ഓഫീസിലാണ്‌ വിശ്രമിച്ചത്‌. ഏറെക്കാലമായി വഹിക്കുന്ന എന്‍.ഡി.എ വര്‍ക്കിംഗ്‌ ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ എന്ന പദവിയില്‍ അദ്വാനി ഇനി ഉണ്ടാകില്ലെന്നതിന്റെ സൂചന കൂടിയായിരുന്നു അത്‌. അദ്വാനിയുടെ കടുത്ത എതിര്‍പ്പിനെ അവഗണിച്ചായിരുന്നു രാജ്‌നാഥ്‌ സിംഗിനെ്‌റ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ മോഡിയെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി സ്‌ഥാനാര്‍ഥിയാക്കിയത്‌. പാര്‍ട്ടി പദവികള്‍ രാജിവച്ച്‌ വരെ അദ്വാനി പ്രതിഷേധിച്ചെങ്കിലും പാര്‍ട്ടിയിലെ പുതിയ സമവാക്യം തിരുത്താന്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‌ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. മോഡി സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ അധികാരമേറ്റപ്പോള്‍ അദ്വാനി, മുരളി മനോഹര്‍ ജോഷി തുടങ്ങിയവരെ എവിടെ ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളിക്കുമെന്ന്‌ ചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍ നടന്നെങ്കിലും ഇരുവരും ഇപ്പോഴും പദവിരഹിതരായി തുടരുകയാണ്‌. മോഡിയെ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി സ്‌ഥാനത്തേക്ക്‌ കൈപിടിച്ചു കയറ്റിയവരില്‍ പ്രധാനിയായ രാജ്‌നാഥ്‌ സിംഗും ഇപ്പോള്‍ പൂര്‍ണമായി ഒതുക്കപ്പെട്ട അവസ്‌ഥയിലാണ്‌.

Will Modi conduct India’s namkaran?

There is a slow but systematic attempt to change India’s na-me from Bharat to Hindustan — playing up the word “Hindu” in Hindustan and trying to repackage it as the abode of the Hindus. B.R. Ambedkar and his team that drafted the Constitution of India consciously avoided the term “Hindustan” as they could foresee its implications in a land that takes pride in its diversity. Shortly after the Bharatiya Janata Party toppled the power equations in Delhi and Naren-dra Modi took over as Prime Minister, a Shiv Sena MP, Prataprao Jadhav, remarked in the Lok Sabha that a saffron flag should be hoisted atop the historic Red Fort as “Hindustan” belongs to Hindus. His lone argument was that Hindu-stan is a Hindu nation.

Goa’s Deputy Chief Mi-nister Francis D’Souza turned out to be more loyal than his master. “All Indians in Hindustan are Hindus,” he said in the Goa Assembly on July 25.
Pertinently these are not isolated demands as Rash-triya Swayamsevak San-gh’s chief Mohan Bhagwat has also been repeatedly making such statements. Mr Bhagwat recently said that Hindustan is a Hindu nation and Hindutva is its identity. This led to a debate in Parliament and there were several protests in the Opposition benches regarding attempts to change the name of the country. But this has not deterred Mr Bhagwat.

Meanwhile, Subraman-ian Swamy, a rabid anti-Muslim intellectual of the BJP, took the debate to another level by stating on a TV channel that only those who own the Hindu heritage should be given the right to vote in Hindustan.

What is even more crucial is that Prime Minister Modi chose to employ the term “Hindustan” during his speech on India’s Independence Day from the ramparts of the Red Fort. If my memory serves me right, Mr Modi would describe India as “Bharat” when making a speech in Hindi, or as “India” in English as he did on Independence Day with the catchphrase, “Come make in India”. The reference at the Red Fort of India as “Hindustan” seems to be a conscious deviation. This could be because of Mr Bhagwat’s message to his followers — including Mr Modi.

What is interesting is that the nomenclature — “Hind” or “Hindustan” — was given by Muslim scholars and rulers. It was Abu Rayhan al-Biruni (973-1048), an Iranian historian, philosopher and astrono-mer, who studied Indian society in the 11th century, and first called the people who were living around the river Sindh Hindus.

Al-Biruni came with Mahmud of Ghazni and his classic work is titled Al-Hind (The Hind). Till then the brahmins had preferred the terms Aryavarta or Bharata Khanda to describe the subcontinent. It was eventually Akbar the Great, whom the Hindutva forces do not like, who institutionalised India’s name as Hindustan, through his farmans (orders), revenue records and military documents.
The sad part is that without fully comprehending the implication of the name — Hindustan — Muslims universally use it as an Urdu generic to describe the country. They fail to fathom that there is a religious connotation to the name, which can trap their own existence.

Later it were Raja Rammohan Roy and Vivekananda who used the term Hinduism. Before this there is no evidence of a brahmin pandit or a rishi employing the name “Hinduism” for this brahminic religion hitherto referred to as Varna dharma, Sanatan dharma or Arya dharma.

Till Mahatma Gandhi wrote Hind Swaraj in 1908, no brahminic thinker had accepted the name “Hindu” for their religion. In fact, the peetadipathis (Shivas or Vaishnavas) had refused to refer to their religion as “Hindu”. Even now they do not accept this term.

However, after Gandhi used the phrase “Hind Swaraj”, meaning “Free India”, a more rigorous Hindu ownership started with the establishment of a Hindu Mahasabha in 1914 by some upper caste leaders, who developed differences with the leadership of the Indian National Congress.

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar added one more communal chapter to the history of the country by propagating the ideology of “Hindutva” and a “Hindu Rashtra” in the 1940s. Since then the term “Hindu” for the religion and “Hindutva” for their political propaganda — to intimidate Muslims and denigrate Islamic thought — has spread like wild fire. When Pakistan and Bangladesh were part of mainland India, a counter force — the Muslim League — emerged and that led to the Partition of India.

The Sangh Parivar’s strategy seems to be to fast-forward towards changing the name of the country in the Constitution of India. Let us not forget that they had made such an attempt when Atal Behari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister. The then National Demo-cratic Alliance government constituted a Consti-tutional Review Commis-sion (not a committee) with M.N. Venkatachaliah as its chairman. Only after protests, particularly by dalits, they slackened the move.

The Chief Vigilance officer (CVO) of AIIMS, Sanjeev Chaturvedi, has been removed from his post.

The charge of his office has been assigned to Joint Secretary and CVO of Union Health Ministry.

"With the approval of Health Minister it has been decided to assign the charge of CVO, AIIMS, New Delhi to Joint Secretary and CVO, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for a period of three months with immediate effect," says a Health Ministry order.

More than 70 percent of Indians are satisfied with the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi since he took office nearly three months ago, an opinion poll showed, seeing in him the best hope to put the economy back on track.

The 'Mood of the Nation Poll' by India Today-Hansa Research stands out in contrast with the disappointment that top political economists, including those who advised the Modi campaign, have voiced over his failure to announce big bang reforms.

The poll of 12,430 people conducted across India found that support for Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party had increased since it won the biggest election mandate in three decades.

The vote share of the BJP and its allies would jump to 40 percent from 31 percent if a fresh election were held now, the survey showed, in a break from tradition in India's volatile politics where discontent with incumbent governments quickly sets in, especially when expectations are high.
