Disgruntled Raj Purohit hits out at PM Modi and Amit Shah: In a sting video, BJP MLA says collective leadership is a farce
Mumbai: After a video from a sting operation surfaced, where Raj Purohit, a BJP MLA from Colaba, allegedly leveled several allegations on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the Maharashtra BJP unit has issued a show cause notice seeking explanation from Purohit over his controversial remarks. Purohit has been asked to give a written explanation in three days to the state party president.
This comes days after the state education minister Vinod Tawde's fake degree controversy and women and child development minister Pankaja Munde's alleged chikki scam which has left the BJP red-faced in Maharashtra. A staunch loyalist of late BJP stalwart Gopinath Munde, Purohit is a five term MLA and is the party's chief whip in the legislative assembly. He was a minister of state for housing and labour in the Shiv Sena-BJP government in the state between 1995 and 1999 and was also the Mumbai unit president. BJP MLA Raj Purohit in the video. Purohit had allegedly said in the sting video that 'only two people take decisions in the BJP and others in the parliamentary board just give their seal of approval'. "There is no collective leadership in the party. Only two people take decisions and others only implement it. Collective leadership is a farce," Purohit is seen saying in the video.
While criticising the Modi government's decision, Purohit said that 'banias' who are BJP supporters are unhappy about Permanent Account Number (PAN) being made mandatory for gold purchases of over Rs 1 lakh. "Injustice is being done to me. I am the senior most leader in the BJP after revenue minister Eknath Khadse. I should have been a minister but have been asked to wait because of BJP MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha," he reportedly said.
Purohit also alleged that Lodha, a prominent developer in Mumbai, had gotten hold of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's 'huge money that had been utitilized for the elections.' Lodha also has the influence in the RSS and manages everyone, he further adds. Purohit also ridiculed Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and called him a ‘bogus’ leader.
While Lodha has refuted all the allegations levelled by Purohit, BJP state president Raosaheb Danve said that if the truth is established and if it was found that he has violated the party discipline, he can be expelled from the party. Purohit demanded forensic investigation of the video claiming that it is morphed and the voice in it is not his. "There has been an attempt to tarnish the image of BJP and to ruin my political career. I have faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president Amit Shah and the entire national leadership of the party," he said in a statement.
However, Purohit is not unknown to controversies. In 2011, after Ankita Rane, 19-year old student, uploaded a shocking video of a paani puri vendor relieving himself in a jar kept on his handcart, Purohit slammed the 19-year-old and questioned her motive behind filming the man. Purohit had criticised Ankita at a public meeting and reportedly said that no Indian woman, including that of red light area, would watch such a thing. The 59-year-old vendor in Thane was detained in April 2011 for allegedly "urinating" into a small utensil that he used to serve his customers.
However, when asked about the latest controversial remarks, BJP leaders said that Purohit’s could have made the comments out of frustration as he has been denied a ministry in the chief minister Devendra Fadnavis led government in Maharashtra. “It is shocking hear such comments from a seasoned politician like him. His remarks are completely unexpected. He may his own views but he should have been more careful about it as such comments can’t be made in public,” said a BJP leader, who knows him since last two decades, requesting anonymity.
“While he has denied it, it is clearly seen from the video that he was speaking with someone close to him who has done this mischief. He will have to pay for it anyway,” the leader added.

'Before Raksha Bandhan, Let's Ensure Our Sisters Get Social Security Benefits': PM Modi on Mann ki Baat
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi focused on women in the ninth edition of his radio programme Mann ki Baat.Looking ahead at the coming Raksha Bandhan festival, he asked the people to do something special for women.
"Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, I urge you, please enroll the sisters who work for you, at your homes and in your fields, for the Rs. 12 and Rs. 330 social security programmes," he said.
The government's flagship life insurance scheme, which was launched last month, offers renewable one year life cover of Rs. 2 lakh for a premium of Rs. 330. The accident insurance scheme provides coverage of Rs. 2 lakh for a premium of Rs. 12 per annum. Referring to an initiative started by a village sarpanch in Haryana, the Prime Minister also asked people to post selfies of themselves with their daughters on microblogging site Twitter under #SelfieWithDaughter.
In this context, he also mentioned the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, asking people to post interesting tag lines. The most interesting tag line, he said, will be announced in a future edition of Mann ki Baat.
Haryana has the dubious distinction of being one of the states where female foeticide is rampant.In January, the Prime Minister had launched his Beti Bachao Beti Padao (Save the Girl Child, Educate Her) programme in the state.
In the 22-minute address, the Prime Minister also said the people have demonstrated that there is a will to work.
Since his address on the last Independence Day, in which he had appealed that toilets be built in every school, much has been done, he said. It meant building 4.5 toilets - "it was ambitious to hope to finish a year something that had been pending for 60 years," he said.
Kaam Karti Sarkar' - this is how I see events of the past few days," he said. "If we decide to work on the principle of Sarvjan Sukhay Sarvjan Hitay (Universal Happiness, Universal Good) the government also functions well." Citing examples, he said, "In the past few months, we have launched three welfare schemes. In a short span of time, over 10 crore people have joined them."

BJP returns ‘favour’, Modi suit buyer to get back land
The BJP government in Gujarat has planned to return the “favour” diamond tycoon Laljibhai Patel had done by purchasing PM Narendra Modi’s monogrammed suit for Rs4.31 crore in February. All arrangements have been made through the BJP-controlled Surat MCto “return” 12,000 sq m on the outer ring road of the Surat city to a Patel-owned sports club for the construction of an “international standard sports complex.” The disputed land, priced around Rs54 crore, was earlier marked by the civic body as “reserved for social infrastructure”, which could have included construction of roads, hospitals or any other public utility service. The Anandiben Patel government’s tacit approval became apparent after Gujarat Sports Minister Nanubhai Vanani signed the application along with Patel for “reconsideration” of the “reservation purpose” of the land. The civic planning committee this week reportedly accepted Vanani’s “request” and agreed to change the purpose from social infrastructure to sports activities. The draft plan would now be sent to the state government for approval, which is being considered a “formality”. Though the disputed land has not yet been earmarked to Patel, it is expected after the state’s approval. Lone Congress member in the nine-member committee, Nitin Bharucha, alleged the diamond tycoon had bought the “Modi suit” to get back his land. He said the civic body had never accepted such requests from farmers losing land in reservation. “Apparently, the BJP-controlled civic body has prepared the stage to restore the land Patel was losing in reservation as a reward for purchasing Modi’s suit,” Bharucha said. Town Planning Committee chairman Babu Jirawala, however, denied the civic body was extending any special favour to Patel. “We have not reduced the quantum of his land going in reservation, nor have restored the reserved land to him,” he said. Deputy municipal commissioner (development and planning) Jivan Patel said the reserved land could be regrouped in continuous sequence as the owners of the adjacent plots going in reservation had no objections in changing the ownership. “Ownership of the land is being regrouped only to facilitate construction of the sports complex,” he said.

Sushma Swaraj's ministry refuses RTI on Lalit Modi :
At a time when External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is under fierce attack from the Opposition for "helping" Lalit Modi obtain UK travel documents, her ministry has refused to provide any information about the passport issue involving the scandal-tainted former chief of the Indian Premier League.
The ministry has refused to answer a Right to Information application containing seven questions, including who took the decision to not appeal the Delhi high court's decision restoring Modi's passport in the Supreme Court.
"Kindly note that the office of the external affairs minister has informed that the questions in Serial 1 to 3 of your RTI does not seem to fall under the purview of the RTI act, 2005. As regards to queries Sl No 4 to 7, no information is available with EAM's office," the external affairs ministry said in its reply dated June 26.

ഭ്രൂണത്തിന്െറ ലിംഗപരിശോധനയും പെണ്ഭ്രൂണഹത്യയും മഹാനഗരങ്ങളിലും ദരിദ്രഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും ഒരുപോലെ തുടരുമ്പോള് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്ര മോദി പരിഹാരം നിര്ദേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു- പെണ്മക്കള്ക്കൊപ്പം സെല്ഫി പടമെടുത്ത് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിക്ക് ട്വിറ്ററില് അയച്ചുകൊടുക്കുക. ‘സെല്ഫി വിത്ത് ഡോട്ടര്’ എന്ന ഹാഷ്ടാഗില് ശക്തമായ ടാഗ്ലൈനോടുകൂടി പോസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്യുന്ന പടങ്ങളിലെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ചതിന് അംഗീകാരമായി പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി റീ ട്വീറ്റില് മറുകുറിയെഴുതും. ഇങ്ങനെ ‘പെണ്കുഞ്ഞിനെ രക്ഷിക്കുക, പെണ്കുഞ്ഞിനെ പഠിപ്പിക്കുക’ (ബേട്ടി ബചാവോ, ബേട്ടി പഠാവോ) എന്ന കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്െറ പ്രചാരണപരിപാടി വിജയിപ്പിക്കാമെന്നാണ് നിര്ദേശം. പെണ്ഭ്രൂണഹത്യ വ്യാപകമായ ഹരിയാനയിലെ ബിണ്ട് ജില്ലയിലെ ബീബിപൂര് പഞ്ചായത്തില് പ്രസിഡന്റ് സുനില് ജഗ്ലാന് നടപ്പാക്കിയ ‘സെല്ഫി കാമ്പയിന്’ ആണ് ഇത്തരമൊരു തീരുമാനത്തിന് പ്രചോദകമെന്ന് ഞായറാഴ്ച തന്െറ മാസാന്ത ‘മന് കീ ബാത്’ റേഡിയോ പ്രഭാഷണത്തില് അദ്ദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കി. സ്ത്രീ-പുരുഷ ലിംഗാനുപാതത്തിലെ വ്യത്യാസത്തില് ഏറെ പിന്നാക്കംനില്ക്കുന്ന സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ് ഹരിയാന. ആണ്-പെണ് വ്യത്യാസത്തില് മോശം റെക്കോഡുള്ള രാജ്യത്തെ 100 ജില്ലകളില് 12ഉം ഹരിയാനയിലാണ്. കുപ്രസിദ്ധ ഗ്രാമകോടതി ഖാപ് പഞ്ചായത്ത് ഭ്രൂണഹത്യക്കെതിരെ കൊലപാതകക്കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുകവരെ ചെയ്തു. ‘സി.ഐ.ഡി വനിതകളെ’ നിയോഗിച്ച് ഗര്ഭിണികളുടെ വീട് തിരഞ്ഞുപിടിച്ച് കൗണ്സലിങ് നടത്തി. ഈ യജ്ഞത്തിനൊടുവിലാണ് ബീബിപൂരില് ലിംഗാനുപാതം ഒപ്പമത്തെിക്കാനായത്. സ്ഥിതിഗതികള് ഇത്ര ഗുരുതരമായിട്ടും ക്രൂരമായ നരഹത്യക്കെതിരെ സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ ബി.ജെ.പി ഭരണകൂടം ഒന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല. കുഞ്ഞുപിറന്ന സന്തോഷത്തില് നഴ്സുമാര്ക്ക് വെച്ചുനീട്ടിയ ടിപ്സ്,
പെണ്കുഞ്ഞാണെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് അവര് തിരസ്കരിച്ചതാണ് സുനിലിന്െറ കണ്ണുതുറപ്പിച്ചത്. എന്നാല്, പ്രചാരണ പരിപാടികള്ക്ക് ശതകോടികള് ചെലവിടുമ്പോഴും ആശുപത്രികളില്നിന്നുപോലും ഇത്തരം ദുരനുഭവങ്ങളൊഴിവാക്കാന് ഭരണകൂടങ്ങള്ക്ക് സാധിക്കുന്നില്ല. ഇതുതന്നെയാണ് ഭ്രൂണഹത്യ മുതല് ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന പെണ്ണവകാശധ്വംസനം ഇന്ത്യയില് മാറ്റമില്ലാതെ തുടരുന്നതിന്െറ പ്രധാന കാരണം. നിയമത്തെ അതിന്െറ വഴിക്കു നടത്തുകയാണ് ഭരണകൂടത്തിന്െറ ബാധ്യത. എന്നാല്, ആതുരസേവനരംഗത്തെ വാണിജ്യവത്കരിക്കുന്ന വന്കിടക്കാരുടെ താല്പര്യങ്ങള്ക്ക് വഴങ്ങി നിയമത്തെ ഏട്ടില് മേയാന് വിടുകയാണ് അധികാരികള് ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ബീബിപൂര് ഗ്രാമം നീണ്ട യജ്ഞത്തിലൂടെ കൈവരിച്ച നേട്ടം നിലനിര്ത്താനാണ് ‘ബേട്ടി ബചാവോ, സെല്ഫി ബനാവോ’ പ്രചാരണം നടത്തിയത്. എന്നാല്, പെണ്ഭ്രൂണഹത്യ വിലക്കുന്ന നിയമം കര്ക്കശമായി നടപ്പാക്കാതെയും ഭേദഗതിയിലൂടെ അതില് വെള്ളം ചേര്ക്കാന് ശ്രമിച്ചും അട്ടിമറി നടത്തുന്നതിനെതിരെ ഒന്നും ചെയ്യാതെ ‘സെല്ഫി’ കളിക്കാന് പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ പ്രവൃത്തി അത്യന്തം പരിഹാസ്യമാണെന്ന് പറയാതെവയ്യ.
നരേന്ദ്ര മോദി ഇത്രനാള് ഭരിച്ച ഗുജറാത്താണ് ഭ്രൂണഹത്യ, ശൈശവവിവാഹം തുടങ്ങിയ സ്ത്രീകള്ക്കെതിരായ അതിക്രമങ്ങളില് മുന്നില്നില്ക്കുന്ന രാജ്യത്തെ രണ്ടു സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലൊന്ന് എന്നത് ഇതോട് ചേര്ത്തുവായിക്കണം. മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയാണ് മറ്റൊന്ന്. ഹരിയാനയെ മുന്നില്വെച്ച് ദാരിദ്ര്യമാണ് പെണ്ഭ്രൂണഹത്യക്ക് കാരണമെന്ന് പറയാമെങ്കില് മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയുടെയും ഗുജറാത്തിന്െറയും കാര്യത്തില് അതു പറയാനാകില്ല. ഇന്ത്യയുടെ പ്രതിശീര്ഷവരുമാനത്തിലേക്ക് ഏഴര ശതമാനം സംഭാവന ചെയ്യുന്ന, ഇന്ത്യയുടെ വരുമാനത്തിന്െറ 33 ശതമാനം മുകളില് നില്ക്കുന്ന വികസിത സംസ്ഥാനമാണ് ഗുജറാത്ത് എന്നാണ് കണക്കുകള്. എന്നിട്ടെന്ത്? ആറു വയസ്സിനു താഴെയുള്ള പെണ്കുട്ടികളുടെ അനുപാതത്തില് ഇന്ത്യയില് ഏറ്റവും പിറകിലാണ് ഗുജറാത്ത്. ലിംഗവിവേചനം തടയുന്നതിന് കേന്ദ്ര ഗവണ്മെന്റ് കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ഭ്രൂണലിംഗപരിശോധന നിരോധനിയമം നടപ്പാക്കുന്നതില് ഗുജറാത്തും മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയും പരാജയപ്പെട്ടതായി കംട്രോളര് ആന്ഡ് ഓഡിറ്റര് ജനറല് റിപ്പോര്ട്ടിലുണ്ട്. ജനസംഖ്യയിലെ പെണ്ണനുപാതം ദേശീയതലത്തില് കഴിഞ്ഞ സെന്സസ് ദശകത്തില് 933ല്നിന്ന് 943 ആയി വര്ധിച്ചപ്പോള് ഗുജറാത്തില് അത് കുറയുകയായിരുന്നു. കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്ഷം 141 കേസുകള് രജിസ്റ്റര് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടതില് ആറെണ്ണത്തില് മാത്രമാണ് നടപടിയുണ്ടായത്. ശൈശവ വിവാഹ നിരോധനിയമമനുസരിച്ച് 659 കേസുകള് രജിസ്റ്റര് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട ഗുജറാത്തില് ഒരാളും ഇതുവരെയായി ശിക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ല. ഗ്രാമങ്ങളേക്കാള് നഗരങ്ങളിലാണ് ലിംഗാനുപാത വ്യതിയാനം കൂടുതല്. ലിംഗപരിശോധന സൗകര്യം അവിടെ കൂടുതല് ഉള്ളതുതന്നെ കാരണം. മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയില് നിയമം നേര്പ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള മുറവിളികളുമായി മുന്നിട്ടിറങ്ങിയിരിക്കുകയാണ് ആശുപത്രി ലോബി. ‘സെല്ഫി’ കളിക്കുകയല്ല, നിയമനിര്മാണവും നിര്വഹണവുമാണ് ഭരണകൂടത്തിന്െറ ജോലി. അക്കാര്യത്തില് അമാന്തംകാട്ടുകയും പ്രചാരവേലകളിലൂടെ മുഖംമിനുക്കുകയുമാണ് മോദി. ഇന്ത്യന് സ്ത്രീകളുടെ ദുരവസ്ഥ പരിഹരിക്കാന് മിനക്കെടാതെ ‘സെല്ഫി’ ആഘോഷമാക്കുന്നത് നാടിനെ നാണം കെടുത്തും. അത് തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞില്ളെങ്കില് പെണ്ണവകാശങ്ങള് സംബന്ധിച്ച പിന്തിരിപ്പന് നയത്തില് ബി.ജെ.പി നേതൃത്വം നിരന്തരം ‘സെല്ഫ് ഗോള്’ അടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കെ മോദിയുടെ ഈ ‘സെല്ഫി’ ഭ്രമവും അതിലൊന്നായി കലാശിക്കുകയേയുള്ളൂ.

The ministry has refused to answer a Right to Information application containing seven questions, including who took the decision to not appeal the Delhi high court's decision restoring Modi's passport in the Supreme Court.
"Kindly note that the office of the external affairs minister has informed that the questions in Serial 1 to 3 of your RTI does not seem to fall under the purview of the RTI act, 2005. As regards to queries Sl No 4 to 7, no information is available with EAM's office," the external affairs ministry said in its reply dated June 26.
Huge blow to Priyanka Vadra attempt to keep her Shimla property details secret from RTI query
SHIMLA: In a massive blow to congress government in Himachal , today information Commission tells Himachal Pradesh government, to reveal information on Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's land in Shimla. The details of how Priyanka Gandhi Vadra bought land near Shimla nearly eight years ago must be revealed within 10 days, the top most officers of the Information Commission of Himachal Pradesh have ruled today.
Mrs Vadra is the daughter of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Information on her real estate purchase in Himachal Pradesh was sought last year by Debashish Bhattacharya, a Right to Information (RTI) activist. Information Commission officials had said the details should be shared, but the officer handling the RTI application did not comply Mrs Vadra, 43, wrote to the state government claiming that the details should be kept confidential for security reasons.
Mrs Vadra, whose father and grandmother Rajiv and Indira were Prime Minister and assassinated, is guarded by the Special Protection Group or SPG.
The State Information Commission today said that her land transaction must be revealed under the RTI.
In February 2015, Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s daughter, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, has asked the Himachal Pradesh government not to divulge details of her property in the state, as this could put her life in danger. Priyanka wrote to the state government following a July 2014 RTI query by activist Debashish Bhattacharya. According to the Shimla deputy commissioner, the information cannot be shared as Priyanka is an SPG protectee. In his query, Bhattacharya had sought copies of land records for Priyanka’s properties.
The records sought by the activist include those on a registration-come-sale deed, the status of the land and the permission granted under Section 118 of the HP Land and Tenancy Act.
Acting on the application, the additional district magistrate (ADM) of Shimla on July 21, 2014, had asked the tehsildar of Shimla (Rural) to provide the information. However, in August 2014, the ADM changed his views.
“On 6th August of 2014, the ADM took a U-turn and issued notice to Kehar Singh Khachi, the special power of attorney (SPA) on record of Priyanka Gandhi, and sought his approval for providing the information. "In the meantime, the tehsildar also sought fees for providing 30 pages of information on 7th August 2014,” Bhattacharya said. On August 25 of 2014 the ADM informed Bhattacharya that the information related to the khasra number cannot be shared for security reasons.
He disposed of the RTI application by partially releasing information. While he agreed to release the file notings, he refused to divulge information related to the khasra number, citing security concerns.
Then on September 2, Bhattacharya filed an appeal before the deputy commissioner of Shimla, stating that the reasons for not sharing information were not justified, as the view of the entire land was already available on Google Map. The deputy commissioner disposed off Bhattacharya’s appeal on October 28, observing that Kehar Singh Khachi wasn’t Priyanka’s special power of attorney on the date of RTI application.
ADM Shimla was directed to process the RTI application afresh involving a new special power of attorney of Priyanka. Bhattacharya then moved a second appeal on November 19 before the State Information Commission in Shimla. On November 28, Shimla ADM disposed of the RTI application, saying that new special power of attorney S. Ramakrishnan was appointed by Priyanka and after considering his reply, the entire information can be released. With that the ADM amended his own order of August 25. A time period of 10 days was allowed.

Fadnavis govt hit by another scam: Vinod Tawde faces graft allegations
Woes mount for the Devendra Fadnavis government in Maharashtra after another minister has been accused of corruption in awarding contracts.
A week after state Women and Child Welfare Minister Pankaja Munde was accused of Rs 206 crore Chikki scam, now the school education department has been accused of awarding a contract worth Rs 191 crore without following the e-tendering process. That contract was cleared by state Education Minister Vinod Tawde.
The contract was for supply of fire extinguishers to 62,105 zilla parishad schools in Maharashtra. Every school was to receive three fire extinguishers worth Rs 8,321 each.
The school education department had on February 11 earlier this year authorised the Education Director (Primary), Mahavir Mane, to enter into the contract. The contract was awarded by the education director (Primary) to Thane-based Reliable Fire Engineers on February 27.
However, no approval was taken from the finance department before clearing or signing the contract.
Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde has, however, rubbished allegations of irregularities, asserting that “no money exchanged hands, so there’s no possibility of a scam”.
The minister claimed that he had asked his department to not spend “a single penny” without a go-ahead from the finance department.
The Maharashtra government, which is already battling a Rs 206 crore scam allegation on Pankaja Munde, rallied behind Tawde. The government claimed that the allegation was part of a conspiracy to defame the government.
